I hope you all had a happy Fourth of July weekend. On Saturday we went out to a long-time family friend's picnic (they have one every year on the Saturday closest to the fourth) and played a casual game of volleyball. Two of us are pregnant, and we got two tries at serves - one for us, one for the baby - just to give you an idea of how casual it was. Then we came back here and played at the community band concert right before the fireworks. By the end of the concert Natali was not in the mood for fireworks; the booms weren't really a problem, but she was just so beat that she was fussy (which luckily doesn't happen often).
She is almost able to climb out of the crib, so we're making the move to the toddler bed. The first two nights went really well, since she was almost asleep when we put her down. The first night she woke up twice, but the second night she didn't at all. Today was the first naptime, and she stayed on the bed for a while, but then kept getting down and never fell asleep despite the late night last night. So she was really wired at bedtime, which meant we had to put her back on the crib a few times. The last time she fussed and cried, but she stayed put and fell asleep. Hopefully this will get easier in a few days. When we switched her nap routine to being put down awake, she went through about a week of not napping before she adjusted, so I'm sure she'll adjust to this by the end of the week (I hope). Otherwise things are going well with her - well, except for the extreme pickiness in eating. But she's in general a very even-tempered, happy child, and she's healthy, so I can't complain too much.
The pregnancy is going well. Baby 2.0 is moving a lot now. We're planning out how we'll rearrange bedrooms at first (the baby will be in our room until it's old enough to sleep through the night). Otherwise we've got most of the things we ned - much easier the second time around to feel prepared!
